  6. What is the difference between RCOC-B and RCOC-EVLOS Module 1?

    The Remote Pilot Certificate of Competency - Basic (RCoC-B) satisfies the requirements within the Specific category (medium risk category). The RCoC-B satisfies the competency requirements of a published *PDRA or *STS that involves *VLOS flights. The following operations usually falls within the specific category:

    • Agriculture
    • Flying the drone above 400ft
    • Flying Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS)
    • Pre-Defined Risk Assessment (PDRA)
    • Standard Scenario (STS)
    • Visual Line of Sight (VLOS)

    The Remote Pilot Certificate of Competency Extended Visual Line of Sight Module 1 (RCoC (EVLOS) Module 1) is an additional module which enables Extended Visual Line of Sight operations. The prerequisite for attending Module 1 is RCoC-B which will imply that all Remote Pilots are required to be competent on RCoC-B before attending the Module 1 course.

Dr. Yu’s primary research areas are signal and image processing, data science, and analytics. He has published over 10 articles including ISI-ranked journal papers and international conference papers. On top of that, Dr. Yu has reviewed many ISI-ranked journal papers too.

Talking about professional development, Dr. Yu completed the Enterprise Data Scientist programme, offered by the Center of Applied Data Science, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). He is also a SAS Certified Predictive Modeler, SAS Certified Visual Business Analyst, and SAS Certified Base Programmer.

In 2018, he was recognised as a Professional Technologist by the Malaysia Board of Technologists. He accomplished the HRD Corp. Train-the-trainer certification programme.
